Visiting Polperro in Cornwall
Polperro is a wonderful fishing village just 4 miles from Looe; it is an unspoilt step back in time where you can see pretty fisherman cottages clinging to the steep hills which surround the harbour. Polperro was once home to smugglers and their infamous history is told by the Harbourside Museum.
Since the smugglers disappeared from Polperro it has had its share of artist which came to relax and draw inspiration from the wonderful scenery which will surround you when you visit. The steep hills making it easy to view the entire harbour and see the fisherman and tourist boats go about their work.
Thanks to these steep hills there are also some beautiful walks to be had around Polperro, the coast either side of the harbour makes for a truly stunning walk which is quite steep in some place so do approach with caution if you are not a fan of heights.
Between Polperro and Looe is Talland, which has a wonderful sandy beach with a couple of café open during the tourist season which makes for a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the weather. Going the other way from Polperro is Lansallos which is a secluded cove only accessible by foot and is the perfect place for the smugglers of the past to have landed.
Polperro offers wonderful places to eat and relax and also has some wonderful galleries to explore while you are in the town. With work from local artist which often contribute to the arts and music festival in mid-June these galleries are wonderful places to explore and pick up a bargain.
